About
The standard is on the wall. The founder is on the floor.
Master Dale Whitfield (5th dan) opened Ironvine in 2009 with one rule: rank means the same thing for every student, every test, every year. Sixteen years later he still teaches — and still scores every belt test against the standard posted in the lobby.
What we stand on
Small class sizes
Capped at 14 (10 for Little Ninjas). Every student gets hands-on correction every class — that's the whole point of small.
Instructor continuity
The same instructors, week after week. Master Whitfield remembers what you're working on, every single class.
Testing you can trust
Belt tests are scored against a written standard, posted on the wall, no exceptions. Failed tests come with a plan, not shame.
Safety
Controlled is the whole art.
Martial arts done right is one of the safest sports a kid can play — because control is literally the curriculum.
- Sparring is earned, never automatic — full gear, always refereed
- All instructors background-checked and CPR/first-aid certified
- Professional mats, padded posts, and a strict no-horseplay floor
- Parents watch from the lobby — every class, every program
- In sixteen years, the most common injury is a bruised ego
Meet the mat. Meet the standard.
Thirty minutes on the floor tells you more than any website — even this one.
